Here at Butterbox we have always been big fans of the Global Techno movement. The genre is the most popular in the European EDM scene from the large festivals in Italy, Germany and the Netherlands to the Super clubs in Spain. In recent years this movement has been dominating the International club scene and has spawned some of the most well known DJ’s and producers at present. DJ/Producers such as Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin and Marco Carola are among the bigger names synonymous with the genre.
Butterbox has created a sub brand called “Melt”. The vision for MELT is to promote Techno in South Africa and create a local following for the genre. Our events under the MELT banner have been thrown monthly at Chukkachurri (CT) since May this year. Every month a lineup is picked from the countries top Techno acts such as Danalog, Lady M, The Fogshow and T-Minus to name a few. Every line up at MELT is strictly Techno which differs from the traditional Butterbox format of having multiple dancefloors with several genres at the same event. During winter we have strived to create a smaller intimate vibe at MELT which compliments the atmosphere and the particular style of music. When attending future MELT events it is advised you get there early as the venue reaches capacity fairly quickly and we are unable to allow anybody in thereafter.
We have had an overwhelmingly positive response to the events we have had upto now. Weve have had a sensational turnout at every event, which has encouraged us to keep bringing you bigger and better parties under the MELT brand. In order to help broaden your horizons and introduce you to this genre we have created the Meltcast. Every month we will have a fresh new mix for you by one of South Africa’s top techno DJ’s for your listening pleasure. Below is a link to a clip that was made at one of the recent MELT events. It captures the essence of what we are trying to promote with this brand and a overall solid idea of what you can expect from MELT in the future.
